What is Alverine Citrate and what it is used for?
Alverine Citrate 60mg and 120mg hard capsules are an antispasmodic treatment used to treat IBS. It helps in relieving symptoms associated with IBS and Diverticular disease. Alverine citrate is the active ingredient that helps in relaxing smooth muscles, therefore relieving pain.
In treating IBS, the antispasmodic treatment relaxes the gut muscles spasming out of control and helps you regain control of your gut.
In treating diverticular disease of the colon, it helps in relieving the symptoms of intestinal condition. Diverticular disease makes the muscles surrounding the colon weak leading to the formation of small pouches within the colon.
The small pouches swell and become painful when food particles get trapped within the gastrointestinal tract. Alverine citrate capsules are not prescribed for treating menstrual cramps, however, the doctor may recommend the treatment due to its ability to relax the muscles.
During menstruation, you may experience muscle contractions in the uterus that cause pain that lasts for 2 to 3 days. The doctor will only recommend the treatment if it relieves the pain.
