Important Update: NEW RYBELSUS® TABLETS
From January 2026, Rybelsus® will be supplied in new, lower-strength, bioequivalent formulations. Please read before ordering.
We want to inform you of an important update regarding Rybelsus® (oral semaglutide) and how this may affect your current or future prescription from January 2026 onwards.
What is changing?
Rybelsus is moving to a new formulation that is absorbed more efficiently by the body. Because of this improved absorption, the tablet strengths will change, even though the medicine itself remains the same.
You may therefore notice that the mg strength on your tablets looks different compared to previous supplies.
Old strengths vs new strengths
The new tablet strengths are designed to be bioequivalent to the previous strengths, meaning they provide the same clinical effect when taken correctly.
| Previous strength (Oval Tablet) | Bioequivalent | New equivalent strength (Round Tablet) |
| 3 mg (starter dose) | = | 1.5 mg (starting dose) |
| 7 mg (maintenance dose) | = | 4 mg (maintenance dose) |
| 14 mg (maintenance dose) | = | 9 mg (maintenance dose) |
Although the numbers appear lower, this does not mean your dose has been reduced.
What does this mean for you?

- You may notice different tablet strengths (mg) when placing your next order.
- Please ensure you order the new strength that is equivalent to your previous doses as old and new strengths are not interchangeable.
- Do not attempt to adjust your dose yourself or take more than one tablet to compensate.
If you are unsure which strength to select when reordering, please contact our clinical team before placing your order.
Please be reassured that:
- Any change in strength is intended to provide the same clinical benefit.
- No changes are made without clinical oversight.
Important safety information
- Continue to take ONE tablet once daily only, exactly as prescribed.
- Take Rybelsus on an empty stomach with a small amount of water.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other medicines.
- Contact us if you experience any new or worsening side effects, such as persistent nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain.
What happens next?
- At your next reorder or review, we will ensure you are prescribed the correct equivalent strength.
- If you have any questions or concerns about this change, our clinical team is available to support you.
