Wegovy (semaglutide) pen Summary
What Is Wegovy?
Wegovy is a branded weight loss treatment. It's the brand name for the drug semaglutide, which helps control appetite.
Semaglutide is also sold under the name Ozempic, but Wegovy is specifically approved by the FDA for weight loss in UK, while Ozempic is approved for treating type 2 diabetes.
It's for adults dealing with obesity or over weight with a body mass index (BMI) over 30. It can also be used by people with a BMI over 27 who have weight-related problems, such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes.
Wegovy injection contains semaglutide as the main ingredient. Semaglutide acts like a natural hormone in your body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
GLP-1, produced by the gut, is released after eating and plays a key role in controlling appetite, blood sugar levels, and weight loss.
How Wegovy Works for weight loss?
While Wegovy doesn't directly suppress your appetite in the same way as some medications, it can indirectly reduce your desire to eat by influencing how your body processes hunger and fullness signals.
Actually in the back end Wegovy works by mimicking natural hormone in our body called GLP-1, helping you feel fuller and reducing cravings, which can lead to significant weight loss.
This medication helps you eat less by turning on certain receptors in your body. When those receptors are activated, you feel fuller and more satisfied, which can make it easier to eat less This can lead to decreased calorie intake and ultimately supports healthy weight loss.
Wegovy pens weekly and monthly cost in the UK
Wegovy prices start as low as £30 per week when you buy a bundle. The cost of a 1-month supply depends on the dose strength you choose. Higher doses, like wegovy 2.4mg, are more expensive, but multi-month bundles can help lower the weekly cost.
While many people start with the 1mg dose for affordability, the 2.4mg dose is recommended for maximum weight loss results.

Do not inject into a vein or muscle. Never share your pen or needles with another person. You may give an infection to them, or get an infection from them.
Before you inject Wegovy injections:
Make sure your pen isn't expired, has the right dose, and looks okay (not appear to be damaged or broken). The medicine should be clear. Have a sharps bin ready for used needles.

- Set your dose: Take the exact dose your doctor prescribed
- Push the button: Inject the needle, hold the button until the counter reaches 0, and remove the needle.

Losing weight takes time, even with a GLP-1 medication like Wegovy. But you may notice some changes fairly quickly after starting the medication. Here's how it all comes together.
Wegovy is an effective weight loss treatment when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Wegovy typically begins to show noticeable results within the first few weeks. Many patients see weight loss within 4 to 12 weeks, with more pronounced results over 6 months to a year.
It's important to follow the prescribed dosage and maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen for the best results.
