FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus
FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus is Abbott's newest version of the advanced CGM FreeStyle Libre 2 system for managing diabetes more conveniently. It has a small sensor on the skin that tracks glucose levels levels 24/7 for up to 15 days.
You can get instant readings by scanning the sensor with a supported reader or app, so you don't need to do finger sticks anymore. It also has alarms for high or low glucose levels to help with better diabetes management.
The sensor sends your readings directly to your phone every minute, allowing you to observe how your food choices, daily activity, and medication affect your sugar levels in real-time.
The FreeStyle Libre 2 Flash Glucose Monitoring System, suitable for ages 2 and older, offers continuous glucose monitoring with real-time alarms, replacing traditional blood glucose testing for treatment decisions at the right moment.
It detects trends, aids in managing hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, and communicates with digital devices, facilitating diabetes management independently or with automated insulin dosing systems (AID).

How does FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus work?
When you apply the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor, a thin filament is inserted under your skin to measure glucose levels in the interstitial fluid (ISF) surrounding the cells beneath your skin.
The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor, positioned on the back of your upper arm, works with the FreeStyle Libre Reader (sold separately) to obtain readings.
It uses a simple wireless connection similar to a contactless credit or debit card. The sensor can be worn under clothing for up to 14 days as long as it remains undisturbed, and it is water-resistant, making it safe for showering or bathing, although some extra care may be advisable.
Applying the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor
- Peel the cover fully off to expose the sensor pack. Remove the cap from the sensor applicator and set the cap aside.
- Align the dark mark on the sensor applicator to the sensor pack's dark mark. On a solid surface, press down firmly on the sensor applicator until it stops.
- When the site is prepared, lay the sensor applicator over it and press down hard to secure the sensor.
- Check the sensor after installation. Reapply the sensor applicator's lid. Discard the used sensor pack and sensor applicator properly.
Removing the FreeStyle Libre 2 plus Sensor safely
Use a baby oil or an adhesive remover to help you remove the sensor.
When shouldn't you use this product?
You can wear the sensor at all times, but it must be removed for certain medical scans, including MRI, CT scans, diathermy treatment, and X-rays.
While using this product, you shouldn't consume more than 1000mg of vitamin C daily because the supplement may cause your sensor readings to appear higher than they actually are.
To ensure you receive the most accurate results possible, always carefully adhere to the manufacturer's recommendations. If you have any questions concerning the blood glucose testing process or the findings, consult your doctor or the rest of the medical staff.
