Asthma Reliever Key Information
Asthma is a common condition that affects the lungs, which can develop at any age, causing the airways to become inflamed and swollen. Asthma symptoms include breathlessness, coughing, wheezing and chest tightness.
Asthma cannot currently be cured; however, some treatments and guidelines can be followed to treat asthma symptoms, including short-term reliever inhalers such as Ventolin.
The causes of asthma are not fully understood; however, several factors and conditions can increase the likelihood of having asthma:
- Having allergies, such as hay fever, eczema, and food allergies.
- A family history of Asthma
- Childhood exposure to cigarette smoke
- Having been born prematurely
- A low birth weight
There are also common triggers for asthma symptoms, which include:
- Air pollution
- Pet dander (hair, fur or skin cells)
- Dust mites, mould or damp
- Pollen
- Vaping
- Cigarette smoke
- Exercise
